Update From The Revenue House:…
The management of the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue through the Chairman/Chief Executive, Dr Greg Ezeilo FCA ACTI today January 19,2024 launched a pilot scheme for electronic Monitoring/Tracking Device for transport operators in Anambra State. The scheme is powered by Green Engine and Transpay in conjunction with the AiRS.
The main purpose of the scheme is to ensure security and electronically drive revenue collection from the transport operators in the State. A confirmation of the AiRS Chairman\’s dream to electronically drive revenue collection in the State. The innovation is aimed at minimizing the rate of non-compliance of revenue payments from the transport sector and also reduce series of complaints by the operators to the barest minimum.
Addressing the transport operators present at the pilot scheme, the AiRS Chairman, Dr Greg Ezeilo FCA ACTI explained that the device bills the operator from the financial ledger in the system and also monitors the operator on daily basis. He also stated that the system is tied to the vehicle once it\’s active on the road. According to him, the only time an operator will not be charged is when the vehicle is out of the road maybe as a result of mechanical fault etc, the operator is expected to report to the revenue house so that the system will deactivate the ledger pending when the operator is ready to start work.
In a statement, the Executive Director in charge of Direct Assessment AiRS, Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor maintained that the agency through it\’s Chairman has fulfilled that promise of electronically transforming the revenue generation in the State and emphasized the need for the transport operators to co-operate with the AiRS to formally actualize this laudable scheme, while pointing out the support from the State Gov, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR.
The Green Engine and Transpay was led by their Team Lead, Ozo Tony Okoye. Also present at the venue were; *Hon Evaristus Offor* UHBET Coordinator Anambra Central and Hon Chijioke Okoli UHBET State Coordinator Anambra South.
