AiRS Seals All Branches Of U.B.A In The State

Anambra State Internal Revenue Service , (AiRS) on August 28th, 2018 sealed all branches of United Bank of Africa (UBA), a commercial Bank in Anambra due to unremitted Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax deductions from staff of the UBA working in Anambra State from 2006 to 2011 to the tune of N6.N6.9 billion.

The order for such closure was granted from State High Court in Awka, Anambra State on June 26, 2018 in a suit number A/MISC, 340/2017 between Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue and United Bank of Africa.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AiRS, Dr. David Nzekwu said sealing of the Bank’s branches in Anambra State is in line with Tax law. Till now, all UBA branches in Anambra State remained closed.
